We are excited to announce that Solid Rock Custom Homes was part of the 2015 Colorado Springs #ParadeOfHomes. Our entry into the parade was a stunning Mountain Santa Fe style home called Casa de le Suenõs (Dream Home), in the gated community of Cedar Heights. Our entry was awarded the 2015 Parade of Homes Industry Award for Craftsmanship.

About the Home: Inspired by elements of the American Southwest, this home boasts an open interior and takes advantage of the scenic views offered by the site. These views surround the home from the private seclusion of the rear of the property, to the view down the canyon toward the foothills, to a singular vista of Pikes Peak.

The home takes advantage of these views from various rooms in the house. The master overlooks the privacy of the preserve, the great room, dining room and kitchen look out along the canyon, and the nook and kitchen offer a glimpse of the Peak. The public and private areas of the home relate to these views perfectly. The design of the home is not necessarily a true style, but utilizes various forms and components common to the southwest. Exposed beams, corbelled timbers, log columns and vigas are evident throughout the house.

The interior and exterior walls have bull-nosed corners to soften the edges and echo the mass and softness of adobe construction. The home is sheltered by a mix of flat and Spanish tile roofs. The hip roofs and large overhangs add a slight contemporary touch that fits well with the architecture.

About the Interior: The interior of the upper floor was designed to capture the scenic views of Rampart Canyon and the Rocky Mountain front- range from every room. A large kitchen, great room and dining area flow freely with one another. A kiva fireplace is the grand focal point of the great room. The master suite rests at the rear of the home for privacy, while a guest suite is situated at the front of the home. Designed as a “forever” home, the upper floor allows main level living, with aging-in-place concepts incorporated, to ensure the homeowners will be able to remain in their dream home for many years to come. The lower floor is equipped for guests with two bedrooms, a full bathroom, wet bar and family room. The architectural elements incorporated throughout the interior were inspired by those seen during the couple’s travels throughout the regions of the American Southwest and Mexico.
