Emergency situations tend to bring out the best or worst of a community.  In this “trial by fire,” Colorado Springs has come shining through as a community that pulls together in time of need.  On June 30th, the Waldo Canyon Disaster Recovery Center opened, and many companies and organizations showed up to provide help to evacuees from a centralized location.  Evacuees could speak with their insurance agent, find out about the dangers of smoke damage, get information on necessary permits for rebuilding, pick up some snacks and bottled water, and receive prayer and/or grief counseling without having to make a single phone call.  Our owner Lain Chappell volunteered for several days helping answer questions on behalf of the Home Builders Association.  Here are some snapshots of others who showed up to provide information and resources to those displaced by the fire.
